Introducing Occupational Accident Insurance for Colorado Owner Operators

Workforce Insurance Underwriters is thrilled to announce the launch of our Truckers Occupational Accident Insurance program, now available in Colorado! With this innovative protection plan, Owner Operator truck drivers across the state can enjoy greater peace of mind when navigating life on the road.
On May 8th, 2018, then-Governor John Hickenlooper signed Senate Bill 18-178 into law. This new regulation amended the state's Workers Compensation Act to provide coverage for Owner Operators through either Workers Compensation or Occupational Accident Insurance as of November 8th that same year.
After a lengthy four-year period, the Colorado Division of Insurance has implemented regulations around the new law, including minimum coverage requirements. The new regulations (Regulations Number 3 CCR 702-4:4-2-87) took effect on November 30th, 2022,
requiring Occupational Accident Insurance limits of $1,500,000 CSL.
